CCDC Wins CSH California Supportive Housing Champion Award

CSH warmly congratulates the Centre City Development Corporation (CCDC) for winning the CSH California Supportive Housing Quality Award for the Public Sector.  CCDC received this award for tirelessly marshaling their resources and generating political will to achieve a goal of working to end homelessness.

CCDC boldly formalized a policy that any affordable housing they invest in include 15% of the units as supportive housing units.  Additionally, CCDC truly understands the key role that responsive, tenant focused services play in solving homelessness. CCDC partners with the County of San Diego, the City of San Diego, Veterans Affairs (who are here tonight supporting their close partner), United Way of San Diego County, the San Diego Housing Commission, the Downtown San Diego Partnership (San Diego’s downtown business association) along with many other agencies to ensure appropriate services are matched with housing resources.

CCDC’s focus on ending homelessness builds on a strong track record of creating affordable and supportive housing opportunities. Since 1975, nearly 3,300 affordable housing units have been created in downtown neighborhoods, including almost 300 units of permanent supportive housing. In addition, more than 700 affordable housing units are in the development pipeline or are currently under construction, including over 260 permanent supportive housing units.

CCDC has set a clear goal and plan to end homelessness downtown, which is simultaneously bringing new partners to the table and generating a new and thriving pipeline of integrated, mixed-income, mixed-use supportive housing projects in the heart of downtown San Diego.

Simonne Ruff, CSH Director in Southern California, was thrilled to have the opportunity to present  Jeff Graham, Vice President, Redevelopment with CCDC’s Champion of Supportive Housing Award for their ongoing leadership and effectiveness in creating new pathways out of homelessness for the most vulnerable people living on the streets of downtown San Diego.
