L.A.’s Homeless Soon Will Be “Home for Good”

In 2009 the United Way of Greater Los Angeles partnered with the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce to create a Business Leaders Task Force on Homelessness.  CSH was pleased to provide technical assistance to the task force and United Way staff to support their  research and planning.  CSH provided financial data and a strategic framework for redirecting and aligning existing local resources to end chronic homelessness in Los Angeles.

In October of 2010, the Task Force released Home For Good, a five year plan to end chronic and veteran homelessness in Los Angeles.  CSH President Deb DeSantis was present at the launch of the plan to officially sign on as a supporter.

At the recent CSH California Supportive Housing Quality Awards event, Elise Buik, President and CEO of the United Way of Greater Los Angeles, was recognized as a Supportive Housing Champion for her vision and leadership that led to this dynamic partnership between United Way and the Chamber of Commerce.

CSH Los Angeles staff are involved in many of the implementing committees that are actively turning the plan into concrete results.

In the first year, the campaign will result in over 1,000 chronically homeless people moving into permanent supportive housing.  The goals and activities of CSH continue to be closely aligned with Home For Good.
