Our Impact

CSH is the leader of the supportive housing movement. We’ve demonstrated supportive housing’s enormous potential for improving the lives of individuals and families who face complex barriers to housing. Through our technical assistance, training, consulting, lending, and advocacy initiatives, we have helped communities increase access to quality affordable housing and supportive services. Over the three decades since our founding, we have advanced proven housing solutions that help communities thrive.

  • Distributed more than $1.5 billion in loans and grants.
  • Helped communities create supportive housing through federal, state and local public policy reforms.
  • Worked in more than 350 communities in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

In collaboration with our funders and partners, we worked to dismantle barriers and expand housing and services. In 2022, we leveraged data and research to advocate for $6 billion in public funding for housing and services. We also awarded 196.6 million in loans, grants, and New Market Tax Credits to support the development of affordable and supportive housing.

CSH turned 30 in 2021! This milestone allowed us to pause and reflect on the past three decades. What struck us most was how our collective progress has been built on the efforts of the extraordinary individuals and organizations who have advanced the supportive housing field.

2020 brought unprecedented challenges to CSH, our partners, and funders. Despite responding to the most significant health crisis in more than a century and an enduring assault on the lives of Black Americans, CSH and our collaborators continued our work to advance supportive housing.
