About the Michigan Supportive Services Transformation Fund (SSTF)

The Michigan Supportive Services Transformation Fund (SSTF) would close the $25 million funding gap for supportive services in Michigan. These funds would go directly to supportive housing providers, so that they can adequately serve all those in need of supportive housing in Michigan.

Last year, 4,758 households in Michigan experienced long-term homelessness with one or more disabling condition. Ongoing funding for supportive housing services would ensure that individuals and families have access to support as they gain stability.

We thank Governor Whitmer’s office and the Michigan legislature for appropriating $6M and $20M for supportive housing services in the FY23 and FY24 budgets, respectively. Based on ongoing need, we are pursuing an annual $25M appropriation starting in FY26, with decreasing state contributions as Medicaid reimbursement increases. This will ensure supportive housing providers have the necessary ongoing funding to provide consistent services.
